- What type of files can I send to BrightNight Printing?
PDF is the recommended file type, but we accept .eps, .tif, .pdf, .jpg, .psd, .ai, .qxd adn .ind.
We prefer that you send your PDF and EPS files with embeded or outlined fonts. We will not accept files without embeded or outlined fonts. - What color mode should my files be in?
You should always save your files in CMYK mode. If you save your files in RGB mode, then a color shift may occur and you may not be satisfied with your printing output. - What should the resolution of my files be?
Your images should be at least 300dpi. Anything under 300dpi will be placed on hold. Low resolution files will reduce the quality of your print jobs. - How should I setup my bleed and crop marks?
You should extend your bleed .125" beyond the print area of your files. You shoudl also keep your text at least .125" away from the cut areas of your jobs.
When sending an EPS or PDF file, please make sure you include crop marks so that we can cut the job correctly. - Does BrightNight Printing accept borders on print files?
Yes, but if the border is too close to the cutline, it may be cut off-center slightly. This could cause your finished job to appear off. We cut through many sheets at a time so watch your borders to avoid any unwanted mistakes. - How should I setup my files for proper rotation?
Do not send your files rotated if both sides read the same way. When one side reads different then the other, you should align the files how you want them printed BEFORE you send the files to us. - How can I avoid transparency issues?
Any transparency issue can be resolved before saving your file. To prevent transparency issues, never use shadows, glows or any other transparency on top of a patone color. Always convert your pantone colors to CMYK. - Should I send a proof or sample file?
When sending artwork, do not send extra files, such as proofs or samples because they might get printed. Only send the files you need printed. We are not responsible for proofs getting printed if you send them unless requested by one of our employees. Do not send files that you do not want printed. - What is overprint and how can it ruin my files?
Primarily used to intentionally overlap inks for a number of reasons, overprint can cause unexpected results. We suggest that you turn all overprint objects off BEFORE submitting your files. Unexpected results my occur if you have accidentally set certain items to overprint. - Can I submit multiple files in one document?
NO! We are not automating many of the fuctions we used to do manually and this requires that each side of a job must be on a seperate file. Not separating files will cause delays and you might have to send the files again. Our files are not submitted directly to our plating department. - How do I setup a Spot UV file?
When creating a Spot UV job, you must include a Spot UV template file along with the CMYK color printing file. The Spot UV template file is used to show where the UV will be placed. Use black to indicate where you would like the UV and white where you do not want UV. - How do I setup a file for Silver Ink?
Silver ink files must be sent in a vector format. You MUST use a vector program such as ILLUSTRATOR or InDESIGN to call out the object you want in silver ink. Pantone 877C is the color that you must use to indicate the silver ink. Any other color will not be accepted as silver. Also, labeling the layer as "Silver Mask" or "Silver" will not quality your file. You MUST use a vector program such as Illustrator or InDesign, never you a raster program such as Photoshop for silver files. |
